Starlink Mini Kit Builder - Your Personalised Accessory Shopping List
Last updated: March 2026
Getting your Starlink Mini connected and working reliably from a vehicle, caravan or remote setup is not as simple as plugging it in. Between magnetic mounts, power cables, step-up converters, Anderson plugs, protective covers and security tethers, there are a lot of accessories to choose from - and the right combination depends entirely on your specific setup.
That is why we built the Starlink Mini Kit Builder.
What is the Kit Builder?
It is a free interactive tool on our website that asks you a handful of questions about how you plan to use your Starlink Mini, then builds a personalised shopping list with the exact products you need - complete with images, descriptions, prices and one-click Add to Cart.
No signup. No email capture. Just a genuinely useful tool.
How it works
The Kit Builder walks you through 13 quick questions covering everything from mounting to power to protection. Here is what it covers:
Mounting and roof compatibility
If you need a Starlink Mini magnetic mount, the Kit Builder helps you pick from 10 mount colours. It also includes a vehicle database (sourced from our Roof Compatibility Checker) that identifies whether your vehicle has a steel or aluminium roof. If your roof is non-magnetic - common on vehicles like the Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series, Land Rover Defender, and Ford F-150 - it automatically adds our easyto install stainless mounting discs to your list.
The same logic applies to caravans. Most modern caravans have aluminium roofs, so the tool flags that and includes discs without you having to work it out yourself.
Power setup matched to your usage
This is where the Kit Builder really earns its keep. Starlink Mini power cables and adapters are the most confusing part of any setup, and the right choice depends on several factors: whether you are powering your Starlink while driving or stationary at camp, what 12V power connections you have available, and how long a cable run you need.
The tool covers all the common Australian power configurations:
-
12V cigarette lighter socket - If you are stationary at camp or running off auxiliary power, the Kit Builder recommends a 30V step-up converter ($75) paired with a DC power cable in your preferred length (2M, 3M or 5M). If you are only using it while driving with the engine running, a straight 12V car charger cable may be enough.
-
Anderson plugs - Hugely popular in Australian touring setups. The Kit Builder offers a choice between the compact 3+1m Anderson step-up ($90) or the extended 7+1m version ($95) for longer cable runs between your battery system and the roof.
-
Deutsch plug - For trucks and farm equipment with Deutsch wiring, the 500mm Deutsch cable connects directly.
-
USB-C power bank - If you are running off a portable power bank, the tool recommends the right USB-C cable or adapter.
-
Power tool batteries - Already own Milwaukee, Makita, DeWalt or Ryobi cordless tools? Our battery adapters let you run your Starlink Mini from the same 18V batteries you already have. Great as backup power.
Protection and security
The Kit Builder also covers protective covers (the Dishy Armour at $50 or the thicker Dishy Armour Xtreme at $60 for serious off-road use), security tethers to keep your setup locked down when you are away from camp, and a built-in tracker holder for AirTag, Samsung SmartTag or Tile Pro.
Spare cable recommendation
One thing most people do not think about is a spare power cable. If your primary setup uses a step-up converter and that converter fails in the middle of a remote trip, you want a basic 12V cable in your kit as a fallback. The Kit Builder prompts you to consider this.
Who is it for?
The Kit Builder is designed for anyone in Australia setting up a Starlink Mini for mobile or remote use. That includes:
- Caravan and camper trailer owners setting up roof-mounted internet for touring
- 4WD and overland travellers who want reliable connectivity on the road
- Farmers and rural property owners using Starlink Mini on machinery or sheds
- Travellers setting up their first Starlink Mini
- Remote workers who need internet in locations without mobile coverage
If you are not sure what Starlink Mini accessories you need, this is the tool for you.
Your kit, your way
Once you have answered all the questions, the Kit Builder presents your personalised shopping list at the bottom of the page. Every item includes a product image, description and price, with a running total. When you are happy with the selection, hit Add All to Cart and everything goes straight into your Shopify cart ready for checkout.
There is also a discount code field if you have a promo code, and a Start Over button if you want to run through it again with different options.
What makes this different
Most Starlink accessory websites just list products and leave you to figure out compatibility yourself. Our Kit Builder does the thinking for you. It knows which vehicles have aluminium roofs, which power setups need a step-up converter versus a straight cable, and which accessories pair together. It is the same advice we would give you if you called us - just faster.
If you have questions about your specific setup that the Kit Builder does not cover, get in touch and we will help you sort it out.
Dishy Mini Mounts is an Australian company based in regional NSW, manufacturing and selling Starlink Mini accessories including magnetic mounts, power solutions, protective covers and security tethers. All prices are in AUD.
