Starlink Mini Power Draw
?
The Starlink Mini draws less power after recent firmware updates. Hotter days increase power consumption slightly.
2
Daily Usage Hours
?
How many hours per day do you plan to use Starlink? This affects total daily power consumption and runtime estimate.

⚠ Important: Your power bank must support USB-C PD at 100W (20V/5A) to reliably power Starlink Mini. While Starlink states 65W as the minimum, 100W provides the headroom needed for the boot-up surge. Power banks rated at 60W or below will not work via USB-C.
Alternatively, DC direct power banks like the MP158 bypass USB-C entirely and connect via the barrel jack — no PD negotiation required.

ℹ This is your total usable house battery bank, not your starter battery. Depth of discharge affects how much capacity you can safely use.
⚠ Battery Protection Notice
We recommend swapping batteries at the last indicator light (~25% remaining) to protect battery longevity. All major brands have built-in over-discharge protection, but stopping early keeps your batteries healthier for longer.
Our Premium Milwaukee Kits include built-in low voltage cutoff for added safety.

Power Delivery Method
?
How you deliver power to your Starlink Mini affects efficiency. The XTAR-Link MP158 is a purpose-built Starlink Mini power bank that outputs 15-21V directly through the DC barrel jack. No voltage conversion, no USB-C negotiation, no boot surge risk. The most efficient portable power path. USB-C from a power station is nearly as efficient. 12V DC cables work well but the Mini runs at the bottom of its input range. Step-up converters boost 12V to 24-48V but add a conversion step. AC inverters are the least efficient — double conversion from DC to AC and back to DC.
Estimates based on real-world testing. Actual runtime varies with temperature, firmware, and network conditions.
